In 1996, I gained a B.S. in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Goias in Brazil, followed by a Masters in Animal Health, specializing in Epidemiology in 2000. I came to MSU in 2000 as a Visiting Scholar and am now currently enrolled as a Ph.D. candidate. My research focuses on social recognition in young pigs, and how this is affected by weaning age (Souza & Zanella, 2001). I am also studying molecular techniques to identify areas of the brain used in cognitive processes and their interaction with neurosteroids.
