The Status of Women Project at Michigan State University seeks to develop a women's led agenda for institutional transformation based on assessments of the climate and needs of women students, staff, and faculty. The Project's Design and Oversight Task Force spent Summer 2003 in preparation for that work -- analyzing the research models provided by other universities, learning about the organizational structure of MSU, and determining a set of concrete goals for the project.
Currently, the Task Force is shaping research initiatives to begin assessing the status of women at MSU. Fall semester 2003 included the first of those initiatives: a set of public forums where women students, staff, and faculty raised issues of importance to them to be included in that analysis. The second phase included the development of an electronic survey to more inclusively understand the issues of interest and concern to MSU women.
The current phase is implementing the collection of data through the electronic survey. The survey should be completed by the end of the semester. You are encouraged to complete the survey by May 20, 2005. Instructions appear at the site. Stay tuned to this web site for more information about the survey as it becomes available.
As the Project continues, interim Reports and Recommendations will be published on this site, along with updates on the progress of the research. For now, the site includes a detailed Chronology of the Project from its inception, a list of Task Force members, a Resources page that includes links to Status of Women reports from other institutions and the link to the electronic survey.
