The Michigan State University Karate Club, founded in 1962, is one of the oldest martial arts clubs in the Midwest. The club teaches Pukang Tang Soo Do (Northern Diamond Chinese Fist Way), a Korean style of the martial arts. Tang Soo Do emphasizes both punching and kicking skills. The goal is to master both the body and the mind to allow the student to react with the best technique for the situation.

Club Hours and Location

Classes for beginners start the first week of the semester and a second beginner class starts after mid-terms. Anyone who has had previous martial arts training can join our Intermediate/Advanced classes.The MSU Karate Club meets in the Intramural West Building on Campus.


LOCATION: All classes meet in Room 16, IM West basement

Tuesday and Thursday

All students: 6:30–8:00pm

Informal Workouts

All Ranks: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30–7:00pm

All martial arts students are welcome to come in and work out with us!
