Undergraduate SCHOLARSHIPS

FSHN Scholarship applications are evaluated on an annual basis; applications and "Supplemental
Application Sheets" are available starting in December on the FSHN website : www.fshn.msu.edu and
are due by February 1. Applications are submitted electronically.

Only one application is needed to compete for the scholarships described in the Master List. Please
review carefully the qualifications listed and SELECT the scholarships for which you are eligible. You
will be considered only for those scholarships YOU SELECT. Scholarship applications submitted will
be considered for awards distributed the following academic year (Fall/Spring). Thus, freshmen are
eligible and encouraged to apply for scholarships designated specifically for sophomores, and
sophomores apply for scholarships designated specifically for juniors.

Award announcements will be made in April  each year.

1. G. MALCOLM TROUT UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Awards given to undergraduate students enrolled full-time in any major in the Department of Food
Science and Human Nutrition. Must demonstrate sound academic performance by being a student
in good standing within the University.

2. CONSTANCE PARKS HAGELSHAW AND DORETHA JUNE HAGELSHAW SCHOLARSHIP
Awards made to undergraduate students enrolled full-time in any major in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Applicants must demonstrate sound academic performance by being a student in good standing within the University.

3. DOROTHY E. DUGAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Award to a full-time undergraduate student in the Food Science major.

4. CARL G. AND VIOLA SMITH ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award to any undergraduate major in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Students receiving this award must be considering a career in the food science/human nutrition fields. Preference given to undergraduate applicants with good academic standing. 

5. VERLENE & DALE K. WEBER SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the Food Science major with a business and management focus and a minimum GPA of 2.5, who demonstrates financial need to pursue a career in the dairy or food science industries.

6. CHARLES M. STINE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award for a senior in Food Science. Minimum GPA of 3.0.

7. GERBER CARL G. SMITH AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
Award to a junior in Food Science. Must have demonstrated academic excellence and exhibited outstanding leadership abilities as indicated by service and extracurricular activities.

8. FROZEN FOOD INDUSTRY SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a full-time undergraduate student in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Must demonstrate sound academic performance by being a student in good standing within the University. Award to assist students in financial need who are pursuing a career in the food industry. (Provided by the Distinguished Order of Zerocrats).

9. CHARLES H. (CHUCK) AND MARJORIE (MARGE) BAGANS MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a undergraduate student enrolled in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Must demonstrate interest in the dairy sciences.

10. DELTON AND DIANNE PARKS SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a undergraduate student enrolled in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition who is pursuing a career in Food Science with preference for students entering the field of dairy processing or production and demonstrating financial need.

11. VIRGINIA DARE AWARD
One undergraduate student per university who has shown outstanding aptitude in a course related to the judging, manufacturing and utilization of flavors in ice cream. Preference given to students participating in the Dairy Products Judging Team.

12. ANNETTE RACHMANN SCHOLARSHIP
Award for an undergraduate in Dietetics. Selection based on financial need, evidence of a successful future in selected field of study and academic achievement. Minimum GPA 2.0. 

13. MARILYN MOOK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a full-time undergraduate student in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences. Must intend to pursue a career in Human Nutrition and Foods. Preference for students experiencing financial difficulty. 

14. MARGARET A. EAEGLE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Awards made to juniors or seniors in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference given to U.S. citizens with financial need. 

15 FOOD & NUTRITION ASSOCIATION UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Award given to a freshman, sophomore or junior level student enrolled in any major in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Must have demonstrated active participation in FNA activities/programs. Preference for students with financial need and overall GPA of at least 3.0. You must complete the FNA Undergraduate Scholarship Supplemental Application Sheet

16. FOOD & NUTRITION ASSOCIATION SENIOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AWARD
Award for a senior graduating Spring of application year, enrolled in any major in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Consideration will be made based on active participation in FNA activities, recommendations, financial need and minimum GPA of 3.0 in major. You must complete the FNA Supplemental Application Sheet

17.  LOIS GORDON RIDLEY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP/FELLOWSHIP 
Award to a full-time junior or senior in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences.  Selection based on financial need, academic achievement (2.8 minimum GPA), professional goals, participation in preprofessional experiences/internships, and on a balance of activities within the University and Community.

18. THE ANDREW R. AND CLAUDINE BURKHART JACKSON DAIRY FOOD SCIENCE AND HUMAN NUTRITION SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a junior or senior in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences.  Selection is based on capacity and motivation to achieve
educational and professional goals, the initiative to seek further opportunities, and the understanding of the role of dairy
products in human nutrition.

19. GERBER FOUNDATION ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN PEDIATRIC NUTRITION AND FOOD SCIENCE
Award to undergraduate students in Dietetics, Food Science, or Nutritional Sciences who demonstrate academic excellence. You must provide a statement of how your career plans relate to nutrition and food science with an emphasis on pediatrics. Award to PhD graduate students in nutrition or food science actively engaged in research relevant to nutrition and food science with emphasis on pediatrics who demonstrate academic excellence. You must provide a statement of how your career plans relate to nutrition and food science with an emphasis on pediatrics.

20. BRADFORD-ADAMS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR CANR
Award to an undergraduate student in Dietetics with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and employed at least part-time. It is the Donor's wish that recipients consider this award a loan and later donate to this Scholarship so that it may continue to assist others.

21. BRADFORD ADAMS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR NATURAL SCIENCE
Award to an undergraduate student in Nutritional Sciences with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and employed at least part-time. It is the Donor's wish that recipients consider this award a loan, and later donate to this Scholarship so that it may continue to assist others.

22. BETH AND HOLLY FRYER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award to an undergraduate student in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences with a minimum GPA 3.2.

23. DANIEL AND ANNE GUYER SPARTAN CORNERSTONE SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE
Award to a sophomore eligible for federal need-based financial aid programs; preference for students in dietetics.Awarded alternate years starting with 2014-15. (application deadline February 1, 2014).

24. DAVID AND MARY JESSUP DIETETIC INTERNSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
Award to a graduating  dietetics student entering a dietetic internship or a graduate program in dietetics, human nutrition, or medical-related field. Preference will be given to a student who accepts admission to a dietetic internship program (after match date).

25. THE CHENOWETH AWARD IN DIETETICS AND HUMAN NUTRITION
Award to graduating dietetics student entering a dietetic internship or a graduate program in dietetics, human nutrition, or medical-related field. Preference will be given to a student who accepts admission to a dietetic internship program (after match date).

26. W.K. KELLOGG INSTITUTE FOR FOOD AND NUTRITION RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP IN FOOD SCIENCE
Award to a full time undergraduate student in a Food industry related major. U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. 3.0 minimum GPA, Extra curricular participation, demonstrated leadership, financial need.

27. MICHIGAN SOYBEAN PROMOTION COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP
Two award for students in the dietetics major; one for a senior and one for a junior. Two awards for students in the nutritional sciences major; one for a senior and one for a junior. Recipients must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA. You must submit an essay with the scholarship application that outlines and explains how the use of soy is and can be part of a healthy diet. Applicants must explain their interest, knowledge, and/or experience in soybeans. The essay should be 1 to 2 pages with 12-point font, single spaced paragraphs, and double-spacing between paragraphs. The essay must be submitted as hard copy to Cherie Perkins, Room 106 Trout Bldg.

28. TROPICANA DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
Established to promote diversity within the food industry. Preference for food science freshman or sophomore. Renewable. Must demonstrate progress in the program and effort toward career path. Minimum GPA 3.0.

29. FUTURE LEADERS MENTORING SCHOLARSHIP
Two awards to be made to students majoring in dietetics or nutritional sciences, and maintaining at least 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students entering their sophomore year who are first generation college students and exemplify financial need as determined by federal guidelines. Students should have a willingness and interest to be advised and mentored by the donor or designee.

30. HERMAN B. BLUM SCHOLARSHIP FUND IN FOOD SCIENCE AND HUMAN NUTRITION
Award to a food science students who exhibit financial need.

31. ALBERT AND MARY KAY BOLLES SCHOLARSHIP IN FOOD SCIENCE
Award to students majoring in Food Science, intending to pursue careers as Food Scientist, and has a record of hard work. Preference given to Lyman Briggs College students who meet that criteria.
