Transportation in East Lansing
The Michigan State campus is a walker- and runner-friendly environment that's lovely at all times of the year.
A convenient bus-system brings passengers within a few steps to the Kellogg Center, the venue for the conference. Bicycles are available for rent for the duration of the conference and should be reserved through MSU Bikes (http://bikes.msu.edu). MSU participates in the Zip-Car system for zip-car members needing to make a local roundtrip. Cars may be parked in the ramp adjacent to the Kellogg Center.
Capital Region International Airport (LAN) is less than 10 miles from the MSU campus. Visit the airport's web site (http://www.flylansing.com/) for information on passenger services, flight status, cities served, and news for travelers. Detroit-Metro (DTW), the hub airport for this region, is 65 miles from the campus. An express bus (www.michiganflyer.com) makes the trip several times daily, and all major rental car agencies are located in the airport.
Rail and Bus
Participants coming by Amtrak from the west should purchase a through-ticket to East Lansing, which will be either all-rail or rail-plus-bus. Those coming from the east or southeast should also purchase an through-ticket to East Lansing, which will culminate with a three-hour coach trip from the Toledo Amtrak station. Greyhound and Indian Trails operate scheduled bus service to East Lansing from Chicago and elsewhere.
