Stephen Esquith

Paper: Development as Democratic Political Education

Professor Esquith is Chair of the Department of Philosophy at MSU. His teaching Areas are Moral and Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law. He has published Intimacy and Spectacle: Liberal Theory as Political Education, and articles on Rawls, Marx, Weber, Emerson, and topics in democratic theory such as the rule of law, transitional justice, and political education . He has also edited Political Dialogue: Theories and Practices. He is currently doing research on ethics and development, with a special focus on West Africa.
