CLASSROOM POLICIES

  • Always report to room 123 (recitation room) before beginning any lab exercises (Lab will start on time)
  • Attendance will be taken before and after each lab section conducts its experiment.
  • If you are LATE, be sure to check in with your TA.
  • Attendance is required for all lab experiments, including the demonstration lab.
  • It is very important that you come to lab prepared. Check lab schedule for the lab that you are going to do and read all related material for the lab to be performed. This includes ASTM Handbook and Lab manual

LATENESS/ABSENCE

  • Late More than 10 minutes late results in a 2 points deduction from the next lab turned in
  • Fail to check in loses 5 points
  • Absence Let TA know ahead of time if you will be absent for a good reason (interview, family emergency, important schedule conflict) and get approval.
  • If something important comes up rather suddenly, let the TA know as soon as possible.
  • If a student misses a lab, only one make-up lab will be allowed per student based on valid reason.
  • Further absences will result in lost points.
  • Absences for religious reasons must be made in advance

LAB REPORTS

  • A lab report will be required for every lab exercise (Not demonstration lab)
  • Due date: beginning of lab one week after that lab is completed.
  • Late reports will loses points Up to 24 hours late will lose 2 points
  • 50% of points earned will be deducted for labs later than this
  • No lab reports will be accepted after one week.

  • Reports are to be submitted individually. Each person is responsible for his/her own write up. Plagiarism is not tolerated and will result in 0 points for all parties involved
  • Report Must follow the format outlined in the class syllabus.
  • Must be typed or word processed, concise, neat, legible and organized. Points will be taken off if reports are not typed or partially typed
  • Calculations/formulas/sketches may be handwritten neatly in ink, with units in the calculation section of the report

  • Graph must be on graph paper or created by spreadsheet and must have axis label.
  • Staple pages of your report together
  • Write each section of the lab separately.
  • Lab reports will be returned one week after due date. make sure you get back any labs you turned in.
  • Any argument in grading must be done before the next lab session.
