VP Note:
OVPRGS changes

It’s a new year and the
OVPRGS has a few new faces and a new distribution of some duties:
- Terry May is now
Faculty Conflict of Interest Information Officer (see article)
- Anthony Wojcik
retired to a 15 percent appointment as a consultant to the VPRGS
- Estelle McGroarty
became assistant vice president for research and graduate studies, taking
on some of the responsibilities Wojcik handled along with some new tasks
(see article)
- Cordell Overby
took a leave of absence from MSU for a position at the University of
Delaware (see article)
- JR Haywood was
named interim assistant vice president for regulatory affairs
- Paul Hunt added
responsibility for the Office of Export Controls, working with its
director, Ron Russell
- Loraine Hudson is
director of a new Office of Research Facilitation
- Two former Pfizer
scientists are part of OVPRGS
In other changes, the
OVPRGS is partnering with the Graduate School to establish an office to
support post-doctoral trainees (see article). Tony Nunez, associate
dean in the Graduate School, will be its director.
Our goal is always to
facilitate research. We hope these efforts will help faculty be even more
successful.
