Weezer - Pinkerton

Weezer's first album, which was self-titled, was a nice surprise from a band like this but since they had good success with their debut, I think that they tried too hard with this album. It's not over produced but I just think that they wanted this album to be a big success like the first one.

The music is really good, but you have to listen to it several times to get used toi t. I'm sorry but I didn't really like the drums. I thiought they were kind of bad and drowned out the rest of sound. The album itself sounded like it was recorded on a bad tape recorder in a garage. On the good side, there are awesome guitar solo's and riffs which sound great in every Weezer song. Some of the first songs have heavy riffs, which are good, but don't really sound like Weezer. No One Else contains heavy guitars too, but it's more melodic.

The lyrics seem to be based on the same thing as they were on the first album. About relationships, losing someone you care about, and just about life itself. Both albums even have a semi-humorous song, for example Pink Triangle.

Each song is quite different. Getchoo and Tired Of Sex are more heavier where The Good Life and El Scorcho one more catchy. Butterfly is very pretty and quite melodic. It's a good Weezre song and shows how their sound can vary while still sounding good.

Overall, this albumt is very good. I really liked it, but it took a few listenings to get used to. For those who are wondering, I think that their first album is better, and would reccommed you get that album if you wanna know what Weezer sounds like.
