Sponge hasn't yet
made a major imprint on the music world during their career, and
this album won't do it either; but they do have the potential.
Vinnie Dombroski has great vocals, and it's perfect for the music. There is nothing bad about this album but it, basically,
doesn't do anything for you. A few parts will catch your ear but
most just goes right through. The cover art is more catchy and
eye-appealing than the album's sound but there are some good
songs. "My Lackluster Love" has a great vocal introduction
and "Live Here Without You" has a catchy chorus and a
great mini guitar solo. Once you've heard this song, you've heard
the whole album.
The lyrics seem to be on the sad side, but that just helps bring
more feeling and emotions to the music. The music and Vinnie's
vocals and everything go very well perfectly together. It has
been a while since Sponge released an album, and even though New
Pop Sunday won't put them in the spotlight, it will give them
some attention. Sponge's sound would appeal to many types of
people, if they only took the chance to hear them.
