They Might Be Giants-John Henry

1/2

I had no idea what to expect when I bought this album. I had never heard them before, but the cover art was quite interesting. Some songs and vocals are sort of annoying but the unique diversity keeps it in a mix up.

The song Snail Shell has a few heavy riffs in the beginning but in the middle it turns into a weird vocal bridge thing, so it contained several different rhythms. Most of their songs are like that. I Should Be Allowed To Think is a good song, but kind of a mockery of 'generation X'. It is still one of the best songs ont he album, though. With, variating guitars, good bass and drums, and even a few horns, They Might Be Giants are one hard working band with lots of creative musical experience. It takes a few listening to get used to this cd, but after a while it is pretty good. I wouldn't really reccommend it unless you are a fan of TMBG or you just want something different.

Best thing about the album: Creative musical abilities
Worst thing about the album: Some of the vocals
Best song(s): I Should Be Allowed to Think, No One Knows My Plan
Worst song(s): O, Do Not Forsake Me
The hits: none
You'll love
John Henry if you like: Different music, a mix of everything
Type of Music: "Alternative"
