Spike - Puffy (Amy Yumi)

Rating: 6/10
All Music Guide says:
  • Indeed, Spike is a mixed bag of musical styles, with Yoshimura and Onuki showing off their diverse talents on each track. The result is 57 minutes of pure joy, the kind of hook-driven pop that will surely win them a solid fan base in America.
  • Spike is an ultra-cute, polished piece of work that draws heavily on the duo's Western influences

nosmiles agrees: Cutsy pop-Japanese-chic-rock. I like it. Well, at first it was just okay, but then it grew on me. The catchy songs are very catchy. The disco songs are very discoy, but they are all good. Good=fun. Fun=rock out.

The only downside is that you can't really sing along. When the songs become stuck in my head I can't even try to make out a word. And the songs get stuck in your head quite often, which also adds to the fun.

    Best Aspect: Cute
Worst Aspect: Encloses too many genres
    Yay: Shut Your Mouth, Honey
    Nay: N/A
    The hits: Boogie Woogie No.5
    Similar: Shonen Knife
    Style: Poppy-Cutsy-Rock
