Live Through This - Hole
Rating: 9/10

This album is one of the greatest albums I own. The lyrics, music, just the songs itself are remarkable. Hole didn't need publicity from singles, the radio, or MTV, to make this album, or them a popular and great band.

Courtney Love's vocals helps contribute to the albums greatness but the band as a whole made this album what it is. I think it is a very good sophomore album.

Since Hole did not have the pressure of everyone making a big deal about them making a second album I think it came out better. Live Through This was voted the best album of the year and I highly agree with that. I find it great that a band, in the 90's, can make it publicly good without the complete help of MTV, and the radio and still be able to make a great album like this.

What actually makes this a great album is a perfect mix of the vocals (both Courtney's and backup), the music, and lyrics. Courtney puts so much into her lyrics. From symbolism, to personal references, they are very well stated, even if you have to look into them to find the meaning.

The music is subtle at times, and others just right in-your-face. Not very diverse, nor imitative sounding Hole are rather original. Of course this is a product of the "grunge" era, but for what it was, it was quite different. For anyone who knows anything about music, this is a must-have. If you own any other Hole albums, disregard them this minute, and buy this one...the only Hole album you'll ever need.
