Rating: 8/10
Eerie sounds, techno/rock mix, beautiful vocals, and intriguing lyrics are just a few of what's in store for you when listening to this album.
"Supervixen"
is a great first song. With it's catchy introduction and it's
starts & stops, you have to be curious of what's next. "Queer"
is a perfect example of Shirley's voice and lyrics. She adds the
kind of "weird" aspect to the song that it needs, with
her vocals; and how she says the words can give it a completely
different meaning. The bridge with the great guitar riff is such
a good break in the song and the video works great with it too.
The guitars and electronic beats define each song and catches
your ear. The beat of "Not My Idea" is practically
infectious. It gets drilled in your head and puts you in a good
mood. "Only Happy When It Rains" shows off Shirley's
attitude. It shows that she is strong and independent.
The
overall guitar riffs of the album are great and definitely give
it it's style. Although Garbage isn't completely a techno band,
they definitely use the beats and electronic sounds to their
advantage. With an upbeat, yet somber mood, the band and album is fitting for any occasion.
