Rating: 5/10
Overall, this album wasn't too bad. The music is
basically pop-rock. The same powerful chords, nifty bass lines,
and strong vocals as heard in "Inside Out" can be heard in
every other song. The rhythm and catchiness of every song follows the
guitar instead of the vocals. Max Collins, the lead singer and
bass player, has a good voice but is weak at times. "Superhero Girl" can't be saved, but could be helped with a better singer.
The lyrics are quite creative. Although, not all are biographica, most
do tell a story. Many of the lyrics are metaphors and are mature for the age of the band members. It's the voice singing them and the unoriginal music behind that destroys the potential containing lyrics.
Each song is
different with the rhythms and beats, but they all keep the same
distinction that lets you know it's Eve
"Inside Out" is
about going through the emotions of a break up. "Showerhead"
is fast-paced but has a slow-tempo. As most of the songs, the chorus is all radio-friendly-please-sing-a-long.
Eve 6 don't have enough of their own identity to make it. Collins should take his songs to a better singer, and the pretty boy bandmates would make terrific GAP models.
