What is a co-op? There are different kinds. This list came directly from http://www.ncba.coop/join_org.cfm:
● Agriculture
Agriculture co-ops are farmer-owned businesses that market products and purchase supplies on behalf of its members.
● Association
Associations of cooperatives are national, state, regional, and trade associations serving cooperatives.
● Banking and Finance
Banking and Finance cooperatives are co-ops owned by businesses and other members to provide affordable banking and investment services (not credit unions).
● Consumer-Owned
Consumer goods and services cooperatives are natural foods co-ops and other consumer owned businesses.
● Credit Union
Credit unions are financial services cooperatives owned by individuals.
● Health Care Services
Health cooperatives are user-or client-owned cooperatives that are set up by individuals in the same community to help them meet their own health care needs.
● Housing
Housing cooperative are multi-family housing businesses that provide ownership options for individuals from all income groups.
● Insurance Industry
Insurance Cooperatives are co-ops owned by consumers and businesses to provide their members with insurance products and services.
● Purchasing
Purchasing cooperatives are associations of for-profit businesses who band together to enhance their purchasing power and competitiveness.
● Utility
Utility cooperatives provide utilities such as communication services, electricity, and water to their members.
● Worker-Owned
Worker cooperatives create employment opportunities and provide the benefits of ownership to their employee-members.
● Specialized
So, Humetasys [the acronym comes from human meta-systems], as stated, is a consumer-purchasing co-op. We are consumer owned and run - for the purpose of ‘enhancing our purchasing power and competitiveness’. But that is not all we do. Humetasys is about sharing affluence - or rather - sharing the tools that help people develop their own resources. If I had to summarize the mission of Humetasys in some catchy phrase, it would be: helping people develop their own infrastructure. But even that is not entirely accurate. The mission of Humetasys is: helping people develop themselves and their resources, in a sustainable manner. See, if I said that straight out, from the beginning, most people would not understand it. Some explanation is in order. What does sustainable mean? Clearly, it is an alien concept, or humanity would be living that way from ‘day one’. I suggest you read the Systems Primer to get an idea of what I’m talking about. The systems approach encompasses ‘sustainability’. Our product line is geared toward our mission: what I call ‘basic home systems’. In the simplest terms, Humetasys will increase its American membership, increasing its purchasing power of basic home systems, then help spread availability of those same home systems - to areas which need it most.
So yes, Humetasys is a kind of secular charity, but don’t be turned off by that! We do not collect money to distribute food to starving people. That is a ‘band-aid to a bullet in the brain’! We teach people, we empower people, we equip people - to help themselves!

Who am I? My name is Sam Micheal. I was born and raised in Michigan. Both of my parents were
teachers. I am middle-aged and have spent most of my life as a technician, but have the equivalent
of at least one masters degree in advanced education, the bulk in systems science and mathematics.
There are two principles that have guided me in my life here on your beautiful planet: The Golden
Rule [both sides] and The Ends Cannot Justify The Means. My interests are quite diverse with
eclectic tastes. My hobbies are hanggliding and designing sailplanes. These also fluctuate from time
to time. I have many dreams for myself and humanity; I consider myself a visionary, although
neglected. Humetasys was born on 10/19/2003 with five charter members [link to Articles of
Association] . We are a legal and legitimate US non-profit organization with EIN, form 1023 in
process [Application for Recognition of Exemption].
