Okemos Bars
Bennigan's
W Gd. River and Okemos Rd.
-
BEER SCALE:

Well... yes, it is just like every other Bennigan's in the nation, but if you're in Okemos where the bars are not plentiful, it's a safe bet for a place with a good beer list, good food and plenty of other beverage options. The staff has always been friendly when I was there and the service good. The beer list is actually very extensive and there'll be a good number of beers on tap.
Buddies Pub & Grill
(517-347-0443) , 1937 W Gd. River
-
BEER SCALE:

I recently spent a year living in Okemos, just around the corner from
Buddies. On those nights when none of us were interested in driving (or
staying sober enough to drive), we spent a lot of time at Buddies having
a few pitchers. It's a comfortable, laid-back place to drink with a crowd
that ranges about from 21 to 50 years old. The staff are quick and friendly,
the beer selection is average but the nachos are excellent. Bars in Okemos
tend to close much earlier and are less crowded but Buddies is a good place
to just grab a beer after work with a buddy (no pun intended) or have some
nachos and a pitcher after being at the Meridian Mall.
Chi-Chi's: Margauritaville
Marsh Rd.
-
BEER SCALE:

I haven't been there much except on they're Margauritaville nights. The bar area is seperate from the restaurant and they usually have some live entertainment along with a great free nacho bar and a great selection of margaurita's, sangria, mexican beers, and other tasty beverages. I don't know which night is Margauritaville, but I recall it was Wednesday(?). Of course, there's the also the traditional Chi-Chi's food menu available which is a big bonus, and on most nights you're bound to find some specials.
Plum Crazy
Lake Lansing Road (Haslett)
-
BEER SCALE:

Plum Crazy is out in Haslett directly next to Lake Lansing. It's a nice sports bar with plenty of televisions, NTN trivia, pool tables, basketball machines, etc. The beer selection isn't bad, and the menu contains most popular bar items (wings, mozza sticks, sandwiches, etc.) as well as some pretty good pizza. It's definitely a good place for a Red Wings game or an away MSU game or a particularly convenient stop if you're spending the day out on the lake and looking for a good place to grab a beer.
Traveler's Club International Restaurant
(517-349-1701) , 2138 Hamilton Rd.
-
BEER SCALE:

Although I wouldn't really call the Traveler's Club International Restaurant
and Tuba Museum (that's a mouthful) a bar, I include it here because of
it's absolutely incredible selection of beer and wine. As a restaurant,
it has some of the best food in the area. They offer cuisine from the world
over with daily specials selected by their chef. The beer and wine lists
also cover the globe in their selection. It's a small cafe, with a small
staff, but they do a good job of service. The Tuba Museum is a collection
of antique tubas which cover the walls. Take the time to glance over the
collection while drinking a good beer, it's kind of interesting.
Thanx... I hope you enjoyed the review.
