BEER SCALE:

Barley's is your basic sports bar. It has numerous t'v.'s (although
they are a little sketchy on quality), pool tables, etc. It has a good
beer selection and numerous beers on tap. The food is also quite good and
with a good "bar" selection. If there's a good Red Wing's game or other
sports attraction it's definitely a big draw. But even if there's not,
it's a happy place to grab a beer.

Unfortunately, the Blue Coyote is no longer with us. I weep in remembrance
of real wood oven baked pizzas and quality microbrews.
Club Paradise

BEER SCALE:

If you love to dance then there are few other places in the area. It's
the closest thing to a New York dance club that you'll find anywhere around.
It's definitely among the most interesting of bars. Not having any remote
dancing abilities, it's not among my favorites and the beer list is anything
but extensive (which is expected since it's a dance club not a "bar").
The crowd is extremely diverse and whether you're gay, lesbian, straight
or bi, you'll not be alone. But if you would like a jump out of the ordinary
Paradise is the place.
The Green Door Lounge

BEER SCALE:

I'm a big blues and jazz fan which makes The Green Door one of the
best paces in the area. The live entertainment is some of the best in the
area. It's a blue-collar bar and that's the way they like it. Don't expect
any fancy imported beers, but expect good music, good people and great
music. It's a dimmly-lit atmosphere with plenty of drinking, smoking and
people enjoying themselves; a definite must-visit for the blues
enthusiast.
Moriarty's Pub

BEER SCALE:

I give Mort's high marks because it meets all of my personal criteria
for what a great bar should be. This includes guiness on tap, darts, plenty
of great beers in their selection and they're one of the few places in
the area that knows how to poor a real Black-And-Tan! It's not usually
real crowded and the atmosphere is typical for an american version of an
irish bar. Overall I'd say it's one of the best bars in the area.

BEER SCALE:

Right across the street from Oldsmobile Park on Michigan Ave., this
is a place that's worth visiting. It's a great place to watch a sports
game on some giant tv screens. They also serve Bell's Oberon in giant mugs
and have some good food. It's packed on Lugnuts game days, and is a great
place to go to sit around with some friends and have a few drinks. The
staff is friendly and it's a good Lansing singles scene at night. Parking
can sometimes be a trick, but often you can park in the stadium lot across
the street.

BEER SCALE:

This place rocks! It's a across the street from Oldsmobile Park where
the Lugnuts play and serves up some great frozen drinks. The best attractions
are the dueling piano players upstairs on certain evenings. The place will
be packed and everyone is singing along and having a great drunken time.
This is a place with character and provides a great change from the normal
EL bar scene.
Spiral
(517-371-3221), 1247 Center Street
BEER SCALE:

Another fairly new bar
that I have yet to get to. I have heard that it is one of the premiere
dance clubs in Lansing. Whether you're gay or straight, if you miss the
clubs of Chicago and New York then Spiral is worth a visit.

BEER SCALE:

They
always seem to have some good beer specials, and the entertainment sometimes
includes some pretty big headlining bands. They have an impressive light
show and giant dance floor which makes for some pretty wicked dance nights
where the line will be around the building. There is a pool room in back with
several tables and a medium sized seating area. Depending on the night it,
this place can get pretty hopping. Definitely worth a visit if you have any rhythm.
Tripper's
(517-336-0717) , 354 Frandor
-
BEER SCALE:

Tripper's Sports Grill is probably the best place in the area for sports
watching. Although some places may have larger screens, Tripper's has tv's
everywhere and the patrons are usually pretty in to the game. There's plenty
of space, tons of pool tables, darts, basketball, golf games, and entire
second room which has arcade games and best of all: those motorcycle and
car games where you can play against 3 or 4 buddies. Having a few pitchers
and doing a little arcade drunk driving can be a great time. It's also
great if you have a large group since there're plenty of huge, long tables.
Next time there's a Wing's or Lion's game, you should check out Tripper's.
Station 621
A newer bar in Lansing, Although I have yet
to visit I have heard it's nice place for a little bit of everything. Hopefully
more to come.
Thanx... I hope you enjoyed the review.
