Constitution of the MSU Food Marketing Association


 

Section 1. The organization name shall be the MSU Food Marketing Association. (From this point referred to as the FMA)

Section 2. The statement of purpose shall be as follows: The FMA is an organization designed to promote interaction between food industry management students and the food industry. The FMA is committed to providing programs that will complement both the food industry and its future managerial candidates.

Section 3. Within a very short time the FMA has built a reputation of strong leadership and communication skills while creating an open environment for discussing member concerns and opinions. With a goal of professional growth, the FMA develops programs that benefit individual members as well as industry. The Food Marketing Association promotes high academic achievement, professional leadership opportunities, and ethical conduct in all endeavors.

Section 1. The FMA, recognizing MSU as an equal opportunity, affirmative action, public institution which values diversity, shall be a non- discriminatory organization. The FMA will not discriminate on the basis of age, color, gender, handicapper status, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or weight.

Section 2. A member shall be defined by the following criteria:

  1. Must be a MSU student or alumni.
  2. Must pay the annual forty dollars dues.
  3. Must attend at least 2 meetings a semester.
  4. Must read the constitution and be in agreement with it.

Section 1. Elected officers shall include President, Vice President, Special Projects, Industry Relations, Internships, Communications & Secretary, and Finance.

Section 2. Any member may run for an officer position. Officers shall be elected by a majority of members present by secret ballot.

Section 3. Only students registered with MSU are eligible to be officers and/or voting members.

Section 1. Meetings shall be held twice a month (subject to change). Meetings must be announced at least three days in advance. Quorum shall consist of all members present at any given meeting.

Section 2. The FMA shall be governed by Robert's Rules of Order.

Section 3. Committees will be created by the President as needed.

Section 1. Any member may propose an amendment.

Section 2. An amendment may be debated on by members.

Section 3. After debate has been exhausted, an affirmative vote by 2/3 of members present is needed for passage.
