WHY SHOULD I JOIN A FRATERNITY?
You likley will have a great time at college whether or not you join a Fraternity.
Fraternities are for Men who want more than the average college experience: Men who want to have a huge social life, be part of a brotherhood over a century old, and that strive to become better.
Delt Sigs take part in EVERY college aspect, far exceeding any college experience you could have outside of the Greek Community, and we offer more than any other Fraternity at Michigan State University.
Every man who has become a member of Delta Sigma Phi has had no regrets with their college career. Here are the reasons we can tell you. The only way you can learn the rest is to come to RUSH and hear it from brothers that are experiencing it themselves.
WHAT IS RUSH AND HOW DO I JOIN DELTA SIGMA PHI?
RUSH is the formal week where undergraduates of MSU visit the Fraternities that they would like to become a member of. If a Fraternity that you visit wants you to become a member, they will give you a BID. A BID is the formal invitation to pledge a Fraternity. At the end of our pledge term you will have been involved in many teamwork, leadership, and brotherhood activities that will help you grow as an individual and teach you how to be a good brother within Delta Sigma Phi. When those lessons are learned, you become an Active Brother of Delta Sigma Phi and have the opportunity to take advantage of everything it has to offer!
SOCIAL EXPERIENCE
You will change and grow as a person faster during your college career than any other time of your life. The social experiences you have will strongly influence how you change and mature, and they are important to every college student. Delta Sigma Phi hosts and participates in over 100 social events every year. These invents include a variety of parties, trips, philanthropy and charity events. A more in-depth description of these events can be found on the Events and Pictures page of this website.
ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
As a student at MSU, your number one time commitment and priority for the next four years should be academics. Today there is a need to differentiate yourself from every other college student. Consequently, the social, athletic and philanthropic activities that you participate in during college will have a huge impact on your success, however the marks you earn in class will weigh just as much. Academic excellence will help ensure that you enter the job market well above your competition. Delta Sigma Phi provides several resources that will ensure your success in college.
Delta Sigma Phi has a Test Files system for use by brothers: At semester's end, papers, old exams, and all other materials that can be used as a study tool is collected and orginized.
Members of Fraternities vary in age, from freshman to graduate students. Younger members, expecially those living in, have an endless resource of brothers and alumni to talk to about classes they are currently or will be taking in the future.
Books are not cheap. Along with having brothers to go to when you have questions in courses, you also have access to cheap, used, or even free books from brothers who have taken the course(s) before.
Scholarships:
Norm Potter Merit Award: Award presented only at times where a brother has exhibited constant extraordinary acts of brotherhood throughout his active time at Delta Sigma Phi.

Richard D. McLellan Scholarship: Consists of 2 awards given to brothers who achieve a GPA greater than 3.25 or 3.5 during any single semester, and brothers can earn the awarded every semester they are active and live in the Chapter House. Amounts: 3.5+ Semester GPA: $500
3.25 Semester GPA: $250
PLEDGE TERM SCHOLARSHIP: A modified version of the Richard D. McLellan Scholarship is available for new Brothers that earn over a 3.25 semester GPA during their pledge term. The scholarship is also tiered:

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
In today’s job market, leadership qualities and experience are essential. Within a fraternity, these skills will materialize. Experience earned through the nearly endless positions required for fraternities to operate successfully will prove to be the most valuable knowledge gained during your college career.
Delta Sigma Phi is the first fraternity to offer the opportunity to apply to an annual Leadership Institute. Undergraduates can apply to be accepted to the most intensive leadership program offered today. Here members of Delta Sigma Phi from across the country experience leadership in a way that only the graduates of this institute can.
"Leadership wasn't something that I understood before I took a position in the house. I've learned that great men, men who people admire, that are successful professionally and socially are all exceptional leaders. Delt Sigs has given me the opportunities to grow, learn and prepare for any challenge I may come across in the future."
Leaders are worth Millions
median CEO salary for 2005: 7.1 million... top 10%: over ten times that

ATHLETIC EVENTS
Sports teams need organization and large groups of people to participate. Fraternities make large team sports possible and easily accessible. The MSU Greek community has organized sports such as basketball, football, softball, soccer, hockey and others. Also, having such a large group of friends makes it easy to organize the white water rafting trips, golf outings, paintball wars, volleyball tournaments, skydiving jumps, bowling trips, and many more athletic activities. Athletics undoubtedly builds teamwork and leadership skills necessary to succeed in life. No matter what, we always have a great time, but we play hard and we play to win.
The chapter property owned by Delta Sigma Phi provides room for athletic as well as social events. No other fraternity has one like it, which includes a huge front lawn and it's own sand volleyball pit in its spacious back yard.
GENTLEMEN
With the purpose of fostering friendship, leadership and community involvement, the Greek system strives to implement and improve on the qualities of true gentlemen. These qualities are able to flourish through the social, communal and academic experiences that the Greek Community offers.
Delta Sigma Phi's annual bed race continues to be a huge success. Delta Sigma Phi has raised almost $11,000 for the Hanna Community Center its first three years. The total amount donated has increased sharply each year, including a 50% increase over the previous year in 2006. More than 6 other Fraternities and Sororities in the following year incorporated Delt Sigs' ideas into the creation of their own annual events. Delta Sigma Phi sets the standards.
