The DU Touchdown Bell
A tradition of all MSU home football games since 1954 has been the ringing up of the points on the Touchdown Bell. The men of Delta Upsilon bought the original bell during the summer of 1954 and the bell made its debut at the Marquette game which State won 40 to 10. The bell has only left the watch of the brothers once, when members of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at the University of Michigan stole the bell and painted it maize and blue. The bell was recovered and repainted and rung in its great Green and White. Today, two brothers from the chapter man the bell with help from a Big/Little Brother from Big Brothers of Lansing.
