June 28, 2006 - Patrick Roy will be inducted in to the NHL Hall of Fame! Read about it here and expect more updates about this great honor for Patrick.
May 30, 2006 - The Remparts have won the Memorial Cup! Alexander Radulov won tournament MVP and also QMJHL Player of the Year. Congrats to Patrick and his team for such a great season. Read about it here and here.
May 3, 2006 - Good news for Patrick Roy and his Quebec Remparts! After an 8-1 win in game seven, the team, coached by Patrick, will be playing in the QMJHL finals. The Avalanche have also won their series and much to the delight of most visitors of this site, the Red Wings have lost theirs. In webpage news, Patrick-Roy.com will be switched to my new hosting service (yahoo) pretty soon. There will be an option to have a Canadiens, Avalanche, or Remparts themed site view, so you can pick your favorite. I will probably improve the theme view as time goes on so that I can get the new version up and running as soon as possible.
April 28, 2006 - I've decided to switch to another hosting service which will allow me more space and more options than my current provider. I'll be able to do some scripting and other neat things finally, so let me know what features you guys want, since the redesign will be able to do pretty much anything. It will, however, delay things a bit, but the results should be worth it. There will be sections for Patrick's days with the Canadiens, the Avalanche, and the Remparts, and video will be on the site as well. Let me know what you guys want added if you have any other interesting ideas.
April 25, 2006 - The Quebec Ramparts are having quite a run in the QMJHL playoffs. They are in the semifinals playing against Bathurst Titans. Meanwhile, both of Patrick's former teams are 2-0 against their favored opponents. Good luck to all of them!
April 10, 2006 - Still working on the new layout, but I have something quite cool to post: an update about Mr. Patrick Roy straight from the source. Click here to view the first official message from Patrick in this website's history! It is a pdf file so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to see it. Also, some of you seem to want video. I haven't had enough space on my server to upload them, but luckily, I was reminded of YouTube.com and there are copies of some great videos on there, including the 1st Intermission video and the 2nd Intermission video during Patrick Roy night, and the 18 minute long retirement video. More to come, but enjoy for now.
Feb 16, 2006 - Okay, I have a new layout almost done. You can get a preview here. Check if out and if you have any comments or suggestions now would be a good time to let me know. Here's what I'm planning on adding: A listing of all equipment Patrick has worn, a listing of all his hockey cards, more pics with better organization, more articles and some movies/sounds. I'm also in need of some help from you guys for a few things. I was thinking of adding a French version of the page for all you Quebecois, but, I don't speak French. So, if someone would be willing to help translate things, it would be great. Also, I have a lot of Roy pics and cards and stuff, but I don't have everything. Send me any pictures you have that aren't already on the site (unless you have a higher quality version) and I will give you credit for contributing. Just think, a webpage with over 150,000 hits having your name all over it. Heck, my name isn't even all over it. Let me know what you think about the new design in the little poll I have set up there. Adios for now.
Feb 2, 2006 - Wow, its been a long time. Not too much has happened since then, but Mr. Roy is keeping busy with his family life and with his involvement with the Quebec Ramparts. He's not only the head coach, but also part owner and general manager. I figure that since it has been so long, I should probably do a complete redesign of the page. The new poll asks about the color scheme, so let me know what you guys would like. I'll be adding some new sections, so leave some comments if you have any requests or good ideas.
Jan 12, 2004 - With the new year we have many new galleries on that yahoo server, which you can access through the new yahoo galleries link. There are Patrick Roy Night, Olympics, All Star, Retirement, Desktops, and galleries of many seasons, so check em out. Even more coming soon.
Dec 26, 2003 - Merry Christmas (belated) to everyone. Thanks to yahoo.com, I can now post a lot of pictures that I did not have room for with my server. Olympic, Allstar, and Retirement photos are now up on the pics page. Sorry it took so long, but what can ya do. I've had a few requests to add a tape and memoriabilia trading section. Until I have time to make a nice page for that, just leave posts in the message board (in the features section, although that needs some work too). Would any body be interested in patrick-roy.com t-shirts or anything? If so, leave a message in the guestbook or message board. If you have any cool ideas for things to make, or additions to this webpage, leave a post too. Also, I still have no contact information for Patrick Roy, so emailing me to get his address will not work. Your best bet is through the Quebec Ramparts or Colorado Avalanche organizations.
Oct 28, 2003 - Today Patrick's number will be retired in a special ceremony before the Avalanche game. There is also an online auction starting at 8:00pm MT tonight at coloradoavalanche.com. If you can tape this, do so. Many people will want to see this, and it will not be nationally televised. In fantasy hockey news, I finally got around to creating a team. To join, just click here and click the Sign Up Now! button and choose to Join a Custom League. Then, when prompted, enter the following information: League ID#: 92349 Password: avalanche . If you have problems, email me. I'm allowing space for 20 people, so hurry up and join if you want to be a part of this. The winner will be immortalized on a special part of this website...
Oct 6. 2003 - The new year starts and the Avalanche are ready for a new season. Sorry for the lack of updates, but there hasn't really been anything new to report, except for the fact that Patrick Roy Night will be held on October 28th. His number will officially be retired during a pregame ceremony. Read more here. This site should be getting fixed up a bit soon though, more organized, more pictures, and more info, so keep checkin back. For all those interested in Fantasy Hockey, email me right away. If I get enough responses I will create a league for us Roy fans. It will be through Yahoo, so get an account if you don't have one. They have free public leagues if you would like to play but not with our group. The old pictures should be back up and working, I messed up the links when I moved to a different server. Go Avalanche!
July 2, 2003 - Finally, a new update. Thanks to Kelly, we have 3 great new articles from Patrick's time in Montreal. These articles total about 15 pages, but they are just great. We have one from 1986, another from 1993 about his famous wink and one from 1995. Enjoy! Also, be sure to vote in the new poll.
May 30, 2003 - If you want to order the retirement plaque, or others that include pieces of one of Patrick's game used sticks, go here. Don't miss the ESPN Classic Tribute to Patrick Roy tonight! 12 hours of greatness starting at 6pm EST. Get your VCRs ready!
May 29, 2003 - The Highland Mint has contacted me and within a few days we will be offering a limited edition retirement coin/photo plaque. There will only be 2003 of these minted, so you guys get first dibs on something that is bound to be highly valuable. All include a 8x10, coin, record of all Patrick's NHL records, and certificate of authenticity. Also, I can no start the process of organization and collection, so expect new pictures and articles to be up in a nicer way.
May 28, 2003 - The end of an era. Patrick has officially retired from hockey and will be missed by all his fans. The press conference is available on the Colorado Avalanche website. Don't worry about the website though, it will continue to pay homage to the best goaltender in history. Expect tribute graphics and info from this website soon. Thank you to Patrick Roy for getting me involved in the great game of hockey, and providing me with many memories of Canadien and Avalanche victories, great diving saves, and witty press conference remarks. May you enjoy your new found free time, and good luck in Quebec.
May 27, 2003 - A sad sad day, if this is true, DENVER (AP) -- Colorado's Patrick Roy is retiring, ending the 18-year career of one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history, a team source told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Roy will make the announcement at a news conference on Wednesday, the source said on condition of anonymity. A four-time Stanley Cup champion, Roy is still considered one of the best goalies in the game at age 37. But he has been bothered by arthritic hips in the past few years, and he has made it clear he wants to follow the career of his oldest son, Jonathan, a goalie who will start playing in Quebec this fall.
April 21, 2003 - New playoff pictures up! Sorry bout the lack of important updates but college life is hectic. The Avalanche will be looking to finish off the Wild tonight, and it has been a good series. J.S. Giguere mangled the Red Wings, which will bring a smile to any Avalanche fan, and an angry look from any of the Wings fans that post in the message board and poll forums... By the way, the Avalanche became the first team in history to win 9 straight division titles, and Patrick Roy has tied Brodeur with 8 consecutive 30 win seasons (He would have more if it weren't for the strike shortened season).
Mar 14, 2003 - Many new pics up. I moved the 2002-03 pictures to another server because I was having problems uploading to this one. If there are any problems or broken links, email me and I'll fix that. In hockey news, Patrick has kept up his good play, getting the Avs to within 3 points of Vancouver. With 13 games left, its still very possible to get that 9th straight division title. Also, with just 3 more wins, Patrick will tie Martin Brodeur for most consecutive 30 win seasons with 8 (he got his 30th earlier this year).
Feb 10, 2003 - Some website news. I have decided to place links to certain Patrick Roy related products in the Features page. I will only show items that are #1) cool, #2) at the best price I've seen, and #3) worthwhile for any Patrick Roy fan. If you guys have a problem with this, let me know and I will end it. The goal is to make this site self supporting so I can afford to go to college and keep this site running for years and years to come. In regards to a post in the guestbook, there is a section of this page dedicated to Patrick's Mask and it's paintjobs. It is located in the Features section, with the link title "The Art of the Mask". Improvements should be coming soon to that tiny section. Also, I had an idea that might be fun for us next year. I currently have a team in a yahoo fantasy hockey league (with Patrick in goal of course), and have enjoyed it quite a bit. What would you guys think of having our own league in the Yahoo program? Contact me or leave posts in the guestbook if you like the idea.
Feb 9, 2003 - What a week it's been for Patrick! Over the past 7 days, Patrick has collected 3 wins, (2 against the Wings including a 1-0 shutout), compiled a 1.63 GAA with a .946 SV%, and did I mention that he beat the Wings twice? The 5-3 victory was an amazing display of ability, as Patrick put up the best three save combo in history. We will have video of that coming soon. Patrick has shown that even after 1006 games, he is still the best goaltender in hockey. The Avalanche are unbeaten in 9, and if they keep it up, they still might get the record for 9 straight division titles.
Feb 2, 2003 - Patrick Roy has won the NHL All-Star Saturday Goaltender Skills Competition. Saving all but one of the 9 shots from the 3 on 0 and indivdual breakaway events. His recent stellar performace will hopefully continue on for the rest of the year and playoffs. New pictures are up in the usual place. Before the All-Star game, Patrick was named player of the week, appearing in his 1000th career game and picking up his 62nd and 63rd shutouts of his caeer in back to back games. It's been a nice time for Patrick.
Jan 22, 2003 - Patrick just passed 1000 career games, yet another record in his amazing career. He was honored by the Avalanche with a commemorative Silver goalie stick presented by one of his childhood idols, Rogie Vachon. He also received a crystal award from NHL commisioner Gary Bettman. Pictures of the event coming soon. Last year Patrick passed Terry Sawchuk for the most games played by a goaltender. Patrick also smashed Terry's record for career wins in the 2000-01 season.
Jan 20, 2003 - New pics are up and almost all of the site (except the older image galleries) are in the new format. The Avs are still struggling, but they are looking more and more like the great team they should be.
Jan 14th, 2003 - The redesign should be finished this weekend. Sorry about the delays, but college is um, hard. Got a few good pics that should be coming soon as well. If you do have any complaints about the new design, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Jan 3rd, 2002 - Thanks to your help, Patrick Roy was again the leading vote-getter for All-Star goalies. The game will be Feb 2nd in South Florida.
Jan 2nd, 2002 - The new site design for Patrick-Roy.com is here. It is better looking (in my opinion) and actually easier to update, so maybe they will be more frequent...
