CAO Services

Student Information System (SIS)
The CAO provides functional coordination for major enhancements and the general support of SIS. In addition, CAO staff conduct the SIS training sessions offered through Libraries, Computing and Technology Training Programs LCTTP as well as special sessions for particular audiences. The CAO is also responsible for the oversight of security related to SIS.

System Development
The CAO assists MSU units, faculty and staff in developing new information systems (particularly major systems involving several units), whether supported centrally or on a distributed basis, by providing coordination and consultation services. The CAO also assists units in optimizing procedures involving information technology.

Data Resource Administration
The Data Resource Administration function is responsible for ensuring that the institutional requirements for data availability are met, and that standardized data definitions and usages are present across the institution in the design and implementation of information systems.

Digital Information Group (DIG)
The Digital Information Group assists in computing policy areas such as Web Accessibility and AUP. DIG also provides principal support for special web project development related to executive and centrally administered Web sites as directed by Libraries, Computing & Technology.

Acceptable Use Policies
The CAO provides education, investigation and enforcement actions regarding information technology acceptable use policies, including copyright infringement issues.

Proposals for External Equipment Grants
The CAO assists units in preparing external proposals for equipment grants and prepares similar proposals on behalf of the University as assigned by the Major Academic Unit (MAU).
