On these pages I would like to show some of the photographs that I
took with my 4x5 inch view camera, which is pictured on the right while
taking a picture of the forest floor.
Taking a picture with a large format view camera is quite different
from using a 35 mm single lens reflex camera or a point-and-shoot. The
picture is composed on a ground glass, where an inverted and upside-down
image can be viewed and inspected with a magnifier for better focusing.
While actually taking the photograph, the viewing ground glass is replaced
by the film. The simplicity of the view camera makes for a strong photographing
experience. It also offers possibilities like no other camera, like
perspective and depth-of-field control (see my page on view camera technique).
