Mission
The African American and African Studies Sankofa Association is committed to the advancement of the Black community through their academic research, advocacy, and service. Sankofa provides academic, social, and cultural experiences to help enrich, and expand the ideologies of AAAS students. Sankofa seeks to engage in critical discourse and action, particularly concerning the educational and social issues of our community and other students of African descent at Michigan State University.
Goals
Promote the agenda of research, advocacy, and service to all AAAS students. To continually assist new AAAS students with their transition into the MSU community. Protect AAAS graduate student rights, and provide information about the successful navigation through the AAAS program. Support efforts to bridge the gap between the academy and the community. Provide activities that enhance social justice as it relates to the Black community. To engage with the AAAS faculty. Sponsor and promote AAAS activities:
