MSU's Official Statement of Encouragement for Web Accessibility
As a land grant institution, MSU strives to share its success in teaching, research, and outreach locally and globally. The Accommodating Technology Advisory Committee to the Vice Provost for Libraries, Computing and Technology endorsed the MSU Statement of Encouragement regarding accessible Web site design developed in collaboration with Office of the Provost, Office of the Vice President for Academic Student Services and Multicultural Issues, Office for Affirmative Action Compliance and Monitoring, the Office of the General Counsel, and the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities.
"The World Wide Web is playing an expanding role in communication, education, and community-building.
Michigan State University is committed to maximizing ability and opportunity for full participation by persons with disabilities.
Students, faculty, staff, and organizational units producing content for the World Wide Web are strongly encouraged to apply principles of Web accessibility as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium wherever possible in the design and implementation, and in the renewal or replacement, of their Web content.
Programs and services offered over the World Wide Web that do not meet Web accessibility standards must offer comparable non-Web based programs and services for qualified individuals with disabilities."
