SUNDAY MORNING DISCUSSION FORUM
Are you interested in lively conversation about current
events? Do you like to read thought-provoking books and articles and discuss them? The
Forum is a friendly UUCGL Sunday morning group that discusses almost anything. Issues to
be discussed and materials to be read are chosen by consensus. We meet Sundays,10:00-11:00 a.m. in room 105, to enable
participants to attend the second Sunday service. Please see the WEEKLY DIGEST for any changes to the schedule. Drop-ins are welcome! We look forward to seeing you!
FORUM HAPPENINGS
Sunday, December 9
10:00 to 10:20
A discussion of future topics. Bring along some possibilities. 10:20 to 11:10
After the first church service ends, a political discussion will commence, moderated by
Chris Christoff (Lansing Bureau Chief of the Detroit
Free Press), on topics suggested by Chris and attendees. These discussions are
always interesting, informative, and enjoyed by all who attend. Given the
current political situation, there will be no lack of topics.
Sundays, December 23 and 30
To meet or not to meet . . .?
Sunday January 6
Back in action for sure! It isn't too early to suggest new topics and references for
2008.
"A human being
is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He
experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind
of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us,
restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.
Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion
to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. -Albert
Einstein
