Memories of the Tribe's (in)famous years…

(compliments of Gregory in Alliance, OH)

I, too, remember the "great" '86 season. The cover of SI... Cory Snyder's
rifle arm. (Remember how his 26 homers seemed uncannily high?)

I remember going the Cleveland every 4th of July with my dad to watch the
Yankees beat the Indians into their wig-wam, then smiling as the fireworks
lit up our little piece of Lake Erie.

I remember Brett Butler, Tony Bernazard, Andre Thornton, Brook Jacoby, Andy
Allenson, Chris Bando, and my favorite Indian of the '80s, Pat Tabler.

I rember "The Human Rain Delay" -- Mike Hargrove used to play this game.

I remember a crowd of 6,000 at old Municipal Stadium.

I remember the scoreboard (and 95% of the stadium's sound system) being so
far away that you could only hear it for about 5 seconds at a time... then
the wind seemed to take the sound right out to the lake.

I remember a boating accident during the Spring of '93.

I remember going to the last series at Cleveland Stadium, saying goodbye as
the Tribe dropped three straight to the White Sox.

I remember my dad spending hours on the phone for tickets to the opening
game at Jacobs Field. I remember getting tickets to the first night game
(fireworks, included). I remember the game being canceled as the Cleveland
skyline came within view.

I remember the best Indians team I'd ever seen on their way to first when a
strike shortened the '94 season.

I remember watching on TV at college as the Indians won their division, then
the American League Pennant for the first time since 1954.

I remember thinking it was all worth it.

Go Tribe! This IS my team!!!
