Taxi Driver Limited Collector's Edition Review

The new limited collector's edition DVD of Taxi Driver is reviewed at MonstersAndCritics.com:

This 2 Disc Collector's Edition of Taxi Driver, while still not a reason to discard your previous DVD version, is a VAST upgrade over the previous two R1 releases. There are two brand new commentaries, the importation from the previous version of one of the greatest making of doc's ever for a film and contains a second disc filled with mostly new featurettes, interviews and interactive features that any fan of the film or Scorsese MUST own.

Taxi Driver Limited Collector's Edition DVD Arrives August 14.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has scheduled an August 14, 2007 DVD release of the four-time Academy Award-nominated modern film classic Taxi Driver (Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Music, 1977) in a Limited Collector's Edition.

The last Taxi Driver DVD was released in 1999 with upgraded visuals based on Scorsese's restoration work in 1996, and a Dolby 2.0 soundtrack. The new release will hopefully remain in line with Sony's recent excellent transfers of classic films.

Taxi Driver Limited Collector's Edition is full of exciting bonus features, including a new feature-length commentary by director Martin Scorsese, an "Appreciation and Influence" documentary including interviews with directors, producers, actors and movie critics on the cinematic importance of Taxi Driver and its director.
