Hi

Hello and thanks to all of you who were able to take the time to participate in our sense of community survey a few months ago. Eleven households on your block were able to give us great information, and here’s what you said about living on Massachusetts...

Massachusetts is home

People who live on Massachusetts think highly of the block. Ninety percent (90%) of you said that people on this block like each other. Eighty percent (80%) of you reported talking to your neighbors either fairly or very often. You also told us that people on this block think of themselves as a community, and that the residents are committed to the block’s future.

Connection

The most striking thing about this block is the level of connection you share. Ninety percent (90%) of you told us that people on this block like each other, and 70% said that people on this block socialize together. Another amazing quality of Massachusetts is how helpful people are! Sixty percent (60%) of you have volunteered your time to help someone in the past month without getting compensated. These are amazing qualities for neighbors to have!

Safety

We were generally left with the impression that Massachusetts is a quiet, peaceful street with little crime. There was a slight concern about drugs and speeding cars endangering residents. But 70% of you feel that this block has less criminal activity than other blocks in the city. Another plus is that 60% of you reported being home during the day. Those of you who are home have the important role of watching out for each other!

Working Together

We were amazed to find that all 100% of you are interested in working with your neighbors to improve conditions on Massachusetts. And, 20% of you expressed interest in assuming a leadership role on the block! With this level of interest, any of you who would like to start a project should be able to find lots of help! Some of the ideas you suggested include:

Overall

The main point that we’d like to leave you with is that Massachusetts is a GREAT block where people like and watch out for each other. There are some concerns, but there is also a large number of people who are interested in helping make Massachusetts even better.
