News on GENESSEE!!

Hello! We would like to thank you for your participation in the survey we conducted in November and December. Here are the results of our 10 interviews from your block.

SUPPORT and CONNECTION

Most of you agree that people on this block support (73%) and feel connected to each other (74%). In particular, 90% of you agreed that people on this block know each other and socialize with each other. Also, 90% of you agreed that people on this block watch out for each other.

PEOPLE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

It was very clear to our interviewers that the people on this block make it the comfortable place that it is. Many of you stated that friendly neighbors, including people who look out for one another, are the best thing about living on this block. This quality helps make a block feel like home.
 

PARTICIPATION

There were mixed responses regarding participation in community activities, though ALL of you agreed that people on this block participate in the curbside recycling program! Keep up the good work!


WORKING TOGETHER

Seventy percent (70%) of you agreed that residents on this block can reduce the amount of crime on the block, though ALL of you stated that this block has less crime than other blocks in Lansing. Most of you agreed that -- when faced with a problem -- residents can create a solution.

This is an impressive level of interest!

Finally, many of you mentioned that the convenient location of this block is one of the best parts about living on Genesee.
 
 

SAFETY on GENESSEE

Those of you who participated in this survey had very high agreement on the issue of safety. Ninety-five percent (95%) of you feel that this block is a safe place to live and a safe place to walk at night. Safety seems to be an important topic, however, since several of you mentioned concerns about crime when asked about block problems. It is good to see that your neighbors are interested in keeping Genesee a safe place!

Overall, you and your neighbors described Genesee as a place where most people are friendly, where neighbors support one another, and where there is a high level of interest in working together!
