The Cooper Courier

Hello Cooper residents! We would like to thank you for your participation in our survey that we conducted a few months ago. The purpose of the survey was to see how strong of a "sense of community" exists among you on Cooper Avenue, between Boston and Quentin. Here is what we heard from those of you who participated in the survey.....

Strong Sense of Connection and Support

There was an overwhelmingly high level of agreement with statements concerning support and connection between neighbors.

Here are some examples:

Participation and Safety on Cooper

Sixty-seven percent (67%) of you told us that people on this block can reduce the amount of crime on Cooper. Eighty- nine percent (89%) said that Cooper is a safe place to live, and 90% said that it is safe to walk on the street, even at night.

In addition to a feeling of safety, you described high levels of participation on this block. Eighty percent (80%) of you said that people on this block participate in social activities such as pot lucks (90%); and 100% said that people on this block participate in the curbside recycling program. All of you (100%) said that you would be interested in working together to improve conditions on Cooper. This is very encouraging!!!

Overall Sense of Community

When asked about your sense of community overall on Cooper, 89% of you said that it is "just about right." And, 100% of you indicated that you either liked or loved living on Cooper Avenue. With these responses, we were left with the impression that Cooper has a relatively high sense of community and residents who are willing to work together to improve the conditions on the block. Congratulations!

Once again, we thank you for taking the time to participate in our survey.
