Hello and thanks to all of you who participated in our sense of community survey in September and October! We were pleased that ten households were able to participate in the survey, and now the results are in. Here is what you had to say about living on Astor...


Astor is home

Seventy percent (70%) of you reported knowing each other, and over half said you socialize with each other. A lot of you on Astor like your neighbors-70%! The things you said you like best about living here are the quiet atmosphere; the polite, helpful people; and the sense of belonging.
 

Support

Astor residents are the nicest people! Most of you (80%) agreed that people on this block give rides to each other if needed, and 60% agreed that people on this block help out if anyone has a problem, and watch each others’ plants, pets, or kids. Seventy percent (70%) of you agreed that people on this block watch out for each other...this is great!

Safety on Astor

Astor residents report living on a very safe block! Eighty percent (80%) of you said you feel safe enough to walk here at night, and just as many agreed that it is a safe place to live.
 




Working together

An overwhelming 90% of you are interested in working with your neighbors to improve conditions on Astor! With this high level of interest, many of you should be able to team up to address your concerns specifically in encouraging:


Overall

More than half of you (60%) either love or like living on Astor and the rest don’t mind. Familiarity, helpfulness, and watching out for each other are the things you enjoy most about living on this block and that contribute to Astor’s sense of community. Although there are some concerns, there are many of you who are interested in helping make Astor a closer, better block.
