The Allison Advocate
Greetings to all of you on Allison who were able to take the time to participate in our survey last September! The results are in... and we are excited to bring them to you. Fourteen households were able to be interviewed, and you gave us great feedback!

    Allison is home

Many of you agreed that the greatest things about living here are the quiet atmosphere, convenient location, and nice neighbors, like you! We were amazed that all 100% of those interviewed either liked or loved living on this block. All of you reported talking with your neighbors, with

about two-thirds talking very often or fairly often. Over 90% of you like your neighbors because they are friendly, or you have many things in common, such as age, interests, or children.

    Connection

Eighty-six percent (86%) of you agree that Allison is a safe place to live, and most (76%) stated that people on this block trust and like each other. Very few people on this block are isolated from each other. Seventy-one percent (71%) of you agree that the sense of community on this block is " just about right."

Safety

Most (79%) of you feel it is fairly safe to walk at night on this block. The majority (79%) feel there is less criminal activity on Allison than on other blocks in this neighborhood and city. All 100% of you are aware of your neighborhood watch, which is great!

Working Together

Because your neighborhood watch is so active, many of you are already aware of different concerns for Allison residents. Twenty-one percent (21%) of you indicated that break-ins or theft and traffic/cars with loud music are things residents would like decreased. Keeping this in mind, we were happy to note that 93% of you were interested in working together to improve conditions on this block, and 21% were either somewhat or very interested in assuming a leadership role.

Some ideas you gave for improvement were:
  • Neighborhood watch with neighbors watching out for each other more
  • Increased companionship and friendliness

Overall

The main point that we’d like to leave you with is that Allison is a GREAT block where people like and watch out for each other. There are some concerns, but that is also a large number of people who are interested in helping make Allison even better.
