We
have decided to participate in Relay
for Life 2008 this year! We are very excited as this is
our first year of active duty. If you aren't familiar with Relay
for Life, it is a 24 hour, around-the-clock relay, where participants
take turns walking around the track as a team in an effor to raise
money for cancer. It is a nation-wide effort, and features fun
events such as dance competitions, music, events, contests,
give-a-ways, food, and an opportunity to make new friends and support a
good cause. Relay this year will be held at the field hockey
turf, located just south of Spartan Stadium. To join our team, or
make donations, visit www.spartanrelay.com
and enter the pertinent information. Our group login is
'Physiology Society'.
Also, tee shirts are in and they look good! If you are a paid
member, or want to become one, bring a membership application and $30
to our meeting on Monday this week!
The
following groups attended our meeting on volunteer
opportunites over the duration
of last year:
1. Red Cross
2. The Listening Ear
3. Holt Middle School
4. Lansing Area Hospice and MSU Foodbank
5. Burcham Hills Retirement Home
6. Faculty Aid Program
7. Ronald McDonald House
8. Service Learning Center
If you have not done so
already and
are looking for volunteering
opportunities, you can visit the Service
Learning Center website and search for open volunteering
slots. Also we have scheduled volunteer opportunities as a group
at the MSU Food Bank and the Ronald McDonald House in
Lansing. More information on our group activities will be
given at the first meeting on September 17th, 2007.
We also plan to tour the Learning Assessment Center and are tentatively
planning a CPR clinic allowing a participant to earn his or her CPR
certification, necessary for many health related jobs.
Anyone still interested in
volunteering should contact us
and we will be
able to help you.
The
Service-Learning Center has opened its
registration website for many volunteer opportunities. If you are
interested in volunteering in a healthcare related field through
Service-Learning, you will need to
apply very soon. Many spots are already taken but a few
are still available.
to login with your MSU account and search for availible slots.
