We currently are seeking children aged 8-16. We need pairs of sibling children in which both children are in this age range. It is preferred (but not essential) that at least one of the children has possible, suspected, or definite attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or sometimes called ADD). The children must be full siblings of one another (that is, they have the same mother and father).

One biological parent must attend campus with the child(ren). The second parent must participate by completing questionnaires, which can be done by visiting us or by mail.

The campus visits each last 2 to 3 hours. Each child visits once or twice. The parent who is accompanying the children must be the same at all visits. That parent may have to make 3 visits (since we must interview you about both of your children, this sometimes cannot all be done in a single sitting).

You and your children are paid for your time and visits are scheduled at your convenience, usually after school or in the evening.

At the visits, parents complete interviews and questionnaires about your children's behavior and about your family, and about your own behavior. Children complete brain teasers, cognitive and academic tests, and rating scales about themselves and their family. They have  continuous 1:1 supervision from one of our research staff (an MSU student or staff member).

Child and mother will be invited to have blood drawn (which is done at a regular blood draw station at the MSU Clinical Center on Service Road, the day of the second visit). This is optional, and you are paid extra for it. You can decline the blood draw and still be in the study. All family members will be invited to contribute a painless cheek brush for DNA testing. This is a core part of the study and those who do not wish to do the DNA sample should not participate.

Finding our facilities: The ADHD Research Project is located in the Psychology Building on MSU's campus. Enter campus at Collingwood and Grand River, proceed South two short blocks, turn left into and park in the small parking lot (in one of the spaces marked "visitor") on the north side of the Psychology Building. If you do not have a parking pass, we will give you a pass when you come inside. Enter the building on the north side at the door marked "Psychological Clinic." Once inside, turn left, then right, into the main corridor on the main floor. Proceed a short distance down the corridor and find room 115 on your right, near the soda machine.
