OFFICIAL VISIT REMINDER - NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER/INSTITUTIOL REQUEST LIST (IRL)
Effective August 1, 2007, a prospect must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center PRIOR to making an official visit.
NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER UPDATE
The NCAA has adopted new legislation that will require prospects who intend to enroll at an NCAA Division I or II institution on or after August 1, 2007 to supply ACT or SAT scores to the Eligibility Center directly from the testing agency. Test scores on an official high school transcript will no longer be usable for NCAA purposes. Prospects should have their ACT and/or SAT scores sent directly to the Eligibility Center (via code "9999") so that certification will not be delayed. This change in legislation will impact anyone who has previously registered with the Eligibility Center and intends to enroll in Fall 2007 or later. If a prospect's record has been posted with scores from an official high school transcript, these scores will be removed and it will be necessary for the prospect to comply with this new rule. For more information on the NCAA Eligibility Center visit www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.
AMATEURISM CERTIFICATION UPDATE
The amateurism section of the clearinghouse is now open! Prospects who registered with the Eligibility Center prior to December 1, 2006 will need to return to the clearinghouse website and complete the amateurism certification questions.
Please note that every prospect, both domestic and foreign, who attends an NCAA Division I or II institution for the first time on or after August 1, 2007 must be certified as an amateur by the clearinghouse. This includes prospects transferring from any two-year or four-year institutions (including foreign institutions) that are not members of Division I or II.
Once a prospect completes the amateurism portion of the clearinghouse, he/she will receive a preliminary status report. Beginning April 7 of the prospect's senior year in high school (or, if the prospect is a transfer student, the April 7 prior to when he/she enrolls in the following fall at a Division I or II institution), the prospect will need to return to the clearinghouse website to update and confirm the accuracy of his/her amateurism participation questions. [Note: Student-athletes planning to enroll in January 2008 should update their athletics participation for the last time beginning October 1, 2007.] When the prospect updates his/her athletics participation for the last time, he/she will sign a statement acknowledging that he/she has provided the clearinghouse with complete and truthful information. Signing this statement will notify the clearinghouse that the prospect's file is complete. Once the prospect completes this process, he/she will receive a final certification from the clearinghouse.
