Our program focuses on children and families and communities. Special emphasis is focused on: 1) legal system and children, especially adolescent decision making in legal contexts and issues related to custody, abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency and violence; 2) Ethnic minority families, alternative families (e.g. gay and lesbian families); 3) Prevention of teen pregnancy, delinquency, and dropout; 4) Development of social competence and peer influences. Our goal is to always have between 20-50% ethnic minority students. We offer a diversity graduate course on minority issues and diversity every other year (Mel Wilson, Instructor).
