SCRA Biennial Conference
New Haven CT
June 9, 1999
Meeting began at 5:20 pm
In attendance: Executive Board (EB) Members: Alan Tomkins (Chair), Alison Martin (Student Representative), Cathy Stein (Secretary)
Minutes of the Midwinter meeting on April 24th,1999 held in Lincoln NE were approved with modifications.
The EB commented on the success of the Council sponsored graduate training presentation at the Biennial. Alan Tomkins was congratulated for his hard work in putting together the training presentation. Cathy Stein said that she would mail Council awards to recipients who did not attend the graduate training and awards presentation. Stein said that EB needs to decide if they wish to continue the practice of giving this award and make plans to solicit nominations and procedures for selecting a recipient for the next Biennial Conference.
Alison volunteered to initiate the search for a new student representative for the Council. Alison said that she will also send email to students on the listserv about the student exchange program and information about CPDCRA.
Elections: Alan reported that Jim Emshoff from Georgia State was elected to a 3 year term as the second representative of free standing programs. Alan also reported that Ken Maton, from University of Maryland, Baltimore County expressed an interest in serving on the EB of the Council. Alan reported that in talking with Ken Maton that Ken suggested a "partners in graduate programs" idea for consideration by Council. In such an initiative, Council and SCRA would work together and ask if community programs would like to act as partners where each partner would act to critique the other partner's program and encourage them towards positive program change. Alan said that this type of discussion between Council and SCRA might be fruitful.
There was no new business. The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
