candida
biology links
if you want to know more about
the biology of candida, there are three places to look on the web. the pages
are written for scientists, as candida is a standard model organism in laboratory
studies of yeast biology. i don't think they contain anything that'll directly
help you with your crotch, but if you want information, definitely check it
out.
for a basic introduction to yeasts, stanford
university has some serious but fairly readable information on their yeast
virtual library page.
the university of texas medical branch
has a site for medical researchers studying yeasts. it has some nice pictures
(including the one that brought you here), a smidge on candida and candidiasis,
as well as information on other fungi and the diseases they cause.
THE candida biology homepage is at the university
of minnesota. the site is designed for researchers interested in genetics
and molecular biology of candida, and is pretty dry and hardcore. it has
links to other information on candida biology as well as pictures of mutant
and normal strains. go to town.
new news! the genome of Candida albicans
has been sequenced. you can read the abstract here.
