Hello! My name is Craig Dyni (in case you didn't know) and I am a Senior at Michigan State University majoring in Psychology (I changed from Astrophysics during the middle of my Junior year). I may even graduate in December. Woo Hoo!! I am also a member of the MSU Honors College so I'll get an honors degree along with graduating "with honors." Oh, in case any of you are potential employers, here's a link to my resume. ;-)
Hmmm.... A little more about me.... Let's see, I was born January 6, 1977 at the Calumet Public Hospital (now the Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center) in Calumet, Michigan. My parents are Bonnie and Emil Dyni. I have a sister (Christine), who was born two years and one week after I was. I also can't mention my family without adding in our dog, Gizmo.
Until I moved to East Lansing to attend MSU, I lived in the little village of Ahmeek, Michigan. When I say little, I mean it. The population is listed as 148, at least on this web page. I attended Keweenaw Elementary School (which is no longer used), Washington Middle School, and Calumet High School (1995 graduate)
I've told you who I am, where I was born, who my family is, where I've lived, where I went to school from kindergarten to 12th grade, where I am now, my class standing, my last major, and my current major. Maybe I should mention a little bit about other things I've been involved in while I've been at MSU. While I've been here, I've been involved (at one time or another) with:
During my time at MSU, I've also been a worker in the Mason Hall Cafeteria, a computer lab monitor for the Physics Department, a tutor for Student-Athletes in some of the lower level physics courses, a summer maintenence worker, and a desk receptionist for Mason-Abbot and Snyder-Phillips Hall. Currently, I'm just starting a job with Gateway Community Services.
- Enjoying Recreation Other Than Intoxicating Choices (EROTIC) - A group in Mason Hall that provides recreational activities that do not involve alcohol. EROTIC movie nights can be quite interesting! ;^)
- Science Theatre - A group "whose purpose is to bring their enthusiasm for and fascination with science to the general public and to students of all ages." It was a pretty good group, but I no longer have the time, and I'm no longer a "science major". (Social Science is science, but a lot of people don't view it the same way as physics or chemistry, even though they should.)
- The Homophobia Action Group (HAG) - The purpose of the Homophobia Action Group is to fight discrimination against the Lesbian-Bi-Gay and Transgendered students at Michigan State University. I have not been able to be as involved with this group as I'd like to be this year, due mainly to the fact that I have a class that meets at the same time. Oh well, maybe next year.
- The Alliance of Lesbian-Bi-Gay and Transgendered Students - A large part of my time and energy was devoted to this group. I became the Director of Technology Sophomore year, was elected Co-Director my Junior and Senior years, and I was the Office Manager. I could go on at length about this group, but I won't since I'd just be repeating what's said on the Alliance webpage.
What else? Well... I'm a very large MSU Hockey fan. You have no idea how glad I am that hockey season has started again. By the way, the MSU hockey team was the CCHA Regular Season Champion and made it to the Frozen Four last year. We did much better than that other team.
I guess that's about it for now. Time to go work on the rest of my webpage!
Craig
