Playlist for October 24, 2000

After three months in Paris, I finally returned to the fine state of Michigan and the airwaves of WDBM. Paris was an amazing experience - what can I say... the coffee was INCREDIBLE, the food was supreme and the wine was plentiful and cheap!  I also made some great friends who I hope to visit again, perhaps when I move there permanently!  Despite all this, there was not an over-abundance of good roots/T&T music, so it was great to get back behind the mic and have access to WDBM's Twang library again.  I started out the show with my "Desert Island Discs" (in the spirit of High Fidelity), since I only had room in my suitcase for around 10 CDs. Paris is not truly a desert island, but CDs are expensive and the radio limited, so it felt like that at times.  But a good friend of mine there, Mathias Andrieu, is starting an Americana radio show on a Paris frequency, so by the time I return there will be some radio looking forward to!  If you receive this and put out CDs, contact me and I can give you his info, but he is actively seeking good albums since his station is starting from ground zero.  We also had the Weepers in the studio to play live, catch up on their recent going-ons and talk about their upcoming album.  À bientôt!
