Why should you rush Delta Chi?
Joining a fraternity can help you get acclimated to college life. Despite your preparation in high school, the challenges of attending a major institution of over 40,000 students can be overwhelming. Delta Chi provides numerous resources to make assist in this transition. Some of these resources include:
- Academic Support – Delta Chi has an Academic Advisor who is a professor at MSU. Our Advisor helps members improve study habits, schedule appropriate courses, create effective resumes and navigate the resources available through the University. We also have wireless Internet access, available throughout the Chapter House, dedicated study room and additional course preparation materials. Delta Chi’s grades consistently remain on par with those of the University at-large.
- Financial Support – Delta Chi awards several scholarships every year out of an alumni funded, dedicated endowment. An additional endowment is currently being funded and will provide our house with additional scholarships in the near future.
- Career Support – Delta Chi continues to advance the networking of our extensive alumni base. Many members have received jobs and internships through these efforts.
- After-College Experience – You’re a student for a few years but you’re a Spartan forever and Delta Chi offers graduates a perpetual connection to the Green and White. Activities for our alumni include an annual Father/Son/Alumni Golf Outing held in the Spring, Homecoming festivities and a Founders Day dinner held in the Winter.
- Brotherhood of a Lifetime – Delta Chi’s tend to be more than members. Our members tend to have a very special bond to one another. These bonds of friendship form a brotherhood. This brotherhood lasts for the rest of your life – even after graduation, Delta Chi’s enjoy a close camaraderie, frequently vacationing together, visiting one another and reuniting at various alumni events.
- Athletics – Our trophy cases demonstrate our commitment to a superior athletic program. Delta Chi is amongst the University elite when it comes to vying for the coveted “All Sports Trophy”
- Social – Any body can throw a party, but Delta Chi is unparalleled when it comes to planning the Social Calendar. We strive to provide our members varied and exciting social function throughout the term.
- Responsibility – Unlike most other “Housing” alternatives, Delta Chi provides its members the opportunity to accept significant responsibility in running an organization. To be a Delta Chi, is to participate and we offer numerous positions to help. These experiences are key to learning, preparing for “The Real World” and demonstrating to future employers that you can handle responsibility and succeed.
- Philanthropy – Delta Chi is proud to “give back” to the Community every term through numerous philanthropic activities.
- "Home Away From Home" - When you go away to college, you may have a tendency to get a little homesick. Delta Chi will become your family when you are in school. This is the place where you can go to just relax, talk to someone about problems, or just talk about what happened in the Spartan game last night.
F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)
Here are just a few of the common questions that we get asked about Greek life and our fraternity.
Q. If I join, don't I have to do stupid things or something?
A. Not at Delta Chi. We believe that hazing is not constructive and does nothing to enhance our brotherhood. In fact, Delta Chi was the first national fraternity to abolish hazing way back in 1929.
Q. What if I don't drink, won't joining a fraternity force me too?
A. Not at all. Actually, there are many guys in our chapter that don't ever drink. We believe that drinking is a choice that you, and only you, need to make.
Q. Don't fraternities just buy their friends?
A. Hardly. It is true that being in a fraternity does require you to pay dues. But these dues go towards paying bills like cable and phone, meals, many fun socials such as South of the Border, Toga, and Tailgates; your money alone won't come close to accomplishing any of these things.
