Philanthropy

We as brothers of the Delta Chi Fraternity at Michigan State University are always looking to give back to the community in any way, shape, or form. Philanthropy is something we take pride in because our goal is to set the bar high for the rest. So, if there is ever help needed for a philanthropy event, don’t hesitate to contact us, as we are always willing to help out.

Our major philanthropy event that we host is our annual Jimmy V Cancer Foundation sporting event. This is an event that takes months of planning and takes place in the spring semester towards the end of the school year. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible by seeking help from local businesses in addition to fraternities and sororities. But, we strongly encourage everyone and anyone to participate.

For those of you that do not know what the Jimmy V Cancer Foundation is, here are a few quick facts:

  1. The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary NC State basketball coach and ESPN commentator.
  2. The V Foundation has raised more than $60 million used to fund cancer research grants nationwide.
  3. 100 percent of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events contributed to The V Foundation will be used to fund cancer research and related programs.
  4. ESPN commentator Dick Vitale and Michigan State University Men’s Basketball head coach Tom Izzo are both avid supporters of The Jimmy V Foundation.

As of this year, we have adopted a highway through a program called Adopt-A-Highway (MDOT). Basically we are given a 2-mile stretch of highway and we are required to clean it 3 times a year, so this is something we look forward taking part in.

We also participate in safe Halloween and relay for life with the rest of the Greek community in addition to other independent smaller events we chose to do on our own.
