Objectives/Charge of the 
Solidarity Committee:

  1. Organize union members and the public in support of CTU objectives, issues, and job actions.

  2. Coordinate other members and community activities as appropriate to the function and nature of the committee.

  3. Inform members about labor movement issues and organize support when authorized by the Executive Board.

Structure:

  1. The Solidarity Committee shall consist of CTU members, at least one Executive Board member, and one staff member to serve as liaison/resource person.

  2. Committee members may self-identify.  The chair will be appointed by the Executive Board for a two-year term.

  3. The committee will elect a recording secretary at its first meeting after the October elections.

  4. The committee will meet a minimum of once a monthly.

  5. The Executive Board will appoint committee members to serve on non-CTU committees, as required.

  6. The Solidarity Committee activities will be funded by the CTU Executive Board.

  7. The committee may raise additional funds for support of other labor issues and programs, with Executive Board approval.

Guidelines:

  1. The committee will regularly report to the Executive Board. The Board shall be notified of committee activities prior to implementation.

  2. The committee will be responsible for implementing approved activities.

  3. Activities and expenditures will follow established CTU Board policies and procedures.
