SPAIN TODAY
ESSAYS ON
LITERATURE,CULTURE, SOCIETY
Edited by José
Colmeiro, Christina Dupláa, Patricia Greene
and Juana
Sabadell
This collection of critical essays
presents an interdisciplinary reassessment of the contemporary cultural forces
and new critical currents that have completely redefined Spain in the
last two decades. The post-Franco cultural renaissance in Spain has
manifested itself in a variety of forms: the recovery and normalization of a
strong and plural diversity, the expansion of mass media technologies, the
commodification of cultural production, the consolidation of public and private
institutions, and the demarginalization of discourses marked by gender, class
and ethnicity. The essays included in this anthology address the impact of this
cultural renovation from new critical perspectives within the framework of
Neo-Hispanism, reflecting the plurality of currents in the field of Iberian
Studies.
