The MSU Center of Excellence,
COE, for Cultural Diversity in Medical Education coordinates several programs
and activities geared to increase the number and quality of underrepresented
(UR) students, graduates and faculty at the College of Human Medicine,
CHM. The COE also supports curricular innovations and developments in
cultural competence as well as the exposure of medical students to health
research.

Dr. Lipscomb
is currently the CHM Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Services.
She is also an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and until 1994
was the Associate Chairperson for Educational Program within the
Department. As COE Director, Dr. Lipscomb is responsible for the
overall implementation, operation and evaluation of the program
and other activities.

Prior
to taking up this position, Mr. Iyioke worked as a Research Assistant
and Science Writer for MSU Institute for Environmental Toxicology.
He has dual master's degrees in International Relations and in Journalism
(Health/Environmental Science). At the moment he maintains some
Web Sites for CHM as well as the COE site. He also designs and edits
other publications.

Before
coming to CHM, Mrs. Lake worked as community outreach specialist with
a variety of human services agencies. Mrs. Lake coordinates programs
that provide science enrichment activities and exposure to health
careers for middle school, high school and undergraduate students. |
