Local Arrangements

The Department of Philosophy and the College of Arts Letters at Michigan State University welcome the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy for its 35th Annual Meeting. REGISTRATION

Early registration expired on February 15, 2008. Pre-registration ended on March 7, 2008. Onsite registration will be available, but limited onsite banquet tickets are available.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations had to be received, in writing, by 12:00 p.m. on March 7, 2008, to receive a refund. A $15 processing fee will apply to cancellations eligible for a refund. The cancellation date and time will be based on the date the cancellation was received by MSU. Any registrant that has pre-paid for the conference, did not attend the conference, and did not cancel according to the cancellation policy, will not receive a refund.

LODGING

Link to Kellog Hotel and Conference CenterThe 2008 SAAP Conference will be held at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, 55 South Harrison Road, East Lansing, MI 48824-1022, on the Michigan State University campus.

Rooms are available at the Kellogg Center at a special conference rate of $90 for single and double rooms. Room reservations must be made by February 12, 2008 to receive this special rate. To reserve a room, call (800) 875-5090 and indicate that you are registering for the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy Annual Meeting. Please do not use the online reservation form on the Kellogg website.

Check in time is 4:00 p.m. and check out time is 12:00 p.m. Complimentary onsite parking is available for overnight guests.  Shuttle service is available from Capitol City Airport from 6:00 a.m.to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekends. You must make arrangements a few days in advance of your arrival.

LODGING ALTERNATIVES 

Rooms are also available at the East Lansing Marriott at University Place, 300 M.A.C. Avenue, East Lansing, Michigan 48823, (517) 337-4440) for a contracted rate of $119 for single and double rooms.  It is located in the heart of downtown East Lansing one block north of Michigan State University and within walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants and shops.  The deadline for room reservations that qualify for this lower group rates is February 18, 2008.

Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out time is 12:00 p.m.. Complimentary onsite parking is available for overnight guests.  Shuttle service is available from Capitol City Airport from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every half hour. You must make arrangements a few days in advance of your arrival.  The Marriott will pay taxi fees when the shuttle is not in service.

Internet:  Click on the Marriott Logo and enter your arrival date to begin the reservation process. To qualify for lower group rates, our “group code” (SAASAAA) should already be entered automatically into the appropriate field.  If the code is not there enter it before you hit the “Find” Button.

Telephone: Call (517) 337-4440 to make your reservation.  To qualify for the lower group rates, you should state that you will be attending the SAAP Conference at MSU (group code: SAASAAA).

Approximately one mile from the conference location, affordable lodging can be found at the Howard Johnson Inn, 1100 Trowbridge Road East Lansing, MI  48823, (517) 351-5500

Candlewood Suites, 3545 Forest Road Lansing, MI  48910, Toll Free (888) 226-3539, is located approximately 2.5 miles from the conference location on the southern part of the MSU Campus and comparable in cost to the Marriott.

Bus Service

The Michigan Flyer is an express luxury coach service that connects Detroit Metro Airport with East Lansing for an affordable rate. The Bus pickup and drop off is located at the East Lansing Marriott.

Taxi Service

Lansing has a number of taxi companies, but cabs do not stand by at the airport on a routine basis. If you plan to rely on a taxi, it is wise to call at least an hour or two in advance. Arrangements can be made with the following usually reliable companies:
