9th Annual Graduate Student Philosophy Conference

The conference, organized annually by a committee composed entirely of MSU graduate students, will take place February 15-16, 2008. Alice Dreger, Ph.D. will be the keynote speaker and Stephen Esquith will be the "featured faculty" speaker.

Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy, 35th Annual Meeting

The Department of Philosophy and the College of Arts Letters at Michigan State University welcome the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy for its 35th Annual Meeting, March 13-15, 2008.

Regular Events and Publications:

Department of Philosophy Colloquia

A series of talks given by visitors as well as local faculty and graduate students. In recent years speakers have included David Crocker, Cora Diamond, Hans Joas, John McDowell, Jon McGinnis, Holmes Rolston, Mark Sagoff, Peter Sandoe, Kristin Shrader-Frechette, Tamara Sonn. In addition, there are weekly discussion groups on specific topical concerns and contemporary debates.

Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy

An independent journal since 1986, Hypatia is a forum for important new work in feminst philosophy. Presently its Editorial Board includes several members of the Department of Philosophy, and it is published at MSU.
