The Department of Philosophy and the College of Arts Letters at Michigan State University welcome the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy for its 35th Annual Meeting, March 13-15, 2008.

Hilde Lindemann President-Elect of the ASBH
The approximately 1800 members of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, the national organization for bioethicists and people who work in the medical humanities, have chosen Prof. Lindemann as their next president. She will become President-Elect at the annual meeting in October 2007, and assume the Presidency at the 2008 annual meeting.

Marilyn Frye named Phi Beta Kappa's Romanell Professor in Philosophy for 2007-08
Prof. Frye, University Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, has been honored for distinguished achievement and contribution to public understanding of philosophy. This award will underwrite a series of three public lectures on campus by Professor Frye on February 6, 7, and 8, 2008.

MSU Philosophy no. 1 in research productivity
The Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index (based upon book and article publications and scholarly citations) ranks the graduate program in Philosophy at MSU first among philosophy graduate programs in the United States. MSU Philosophy found "women-friendly" by SWIP UK
The Society for Women in Philosophy UK has listed the Department of Philosophy at MSU among several it judges women-friendly on the basis of reports of practices such as efforts to redress gender balance and support for women in philosophy and feminist philosophy.
